Altium added a new feature in Altium Designer Service Pack 4 to allow projects, project trees or entire workspaces to be archived into a zip file.

To use this feature ensure that the project you want to archive is selected and use the command Project » Archive or Right Mouse Button Click on the Project file within the Projects panel and select Archive.

Performing the archive will automatically save any modified documents.

The first page of the archiver wizard asks us whether we want to archive just our selected Project, the project tree or the entire Designer Workspace. This LedMatrixDisplay.PRJPCB has a project tree due to its FPGA project.

On the second page of the wizard we can choose the path for the zip file to be saved to and it will automatically time and date stamp it for you.

Directories in Archive gives you the option to include all of the folders in the path relative to your hard drive, e.g. C:\Program Files\Altium2004 SP3\Examples\Reference Designs, or folders relative to the directory that the Project file is stored.

Generated Files such as your Gerber and NC drill files can be archived with the project provided they are stored on the same hard drive.

Files on Different Drive can be copied to the archive but the link within the project file will not be updated with its new location within the project sub-direcotry

Addition Items for Archive will allow you to archive your entire output directory and your history backup files.

Page 3 lists all of the individual files which will be included within the zip file and also the folder structure within the archive. Here we can uncheck individual files if we do not want them to be included.

Clicking Next will now generate the archive in zip format.

Finally page 4 gives you a summary of the files that have been included in the archive and the location of the new zip file.
