P-CAD 2004 Library Executive provides much more in addition to component creation. Component libraries have never been easier — to search, to verify, and to enhance with data useful for board design and manufacture. Also, the integration with P-CAD PCB and Schematic is enhanced with design verification, embedded query, and easy component placement.

Many of these enhancements are reviewed in the following exercises. The exercises are designed to be carried out in order. Download the tutorial files, click here for an overview of these files.

  1. Importing and Updating a Library from an external source file.
  2. Importing an external source file without a ComponentName field.
  3. Using Query to selectively update a library.
  4. Using Query to find and place a component.
  5. Reporting on component library updates.
  6. Verifying your design against a library.
  7. Using the Design Manager to highlight component attributes.
  8. Producing a Library Publisher report.

Upon completion of these exercises, we hope to have stepped through processes that you have not yet covered or provide a solution to existing component library problems.
