The evaluation process
Selecting a new electronic design tool is a difficult process. Our advice would be to establish a list of your needs, categorised into
"must haves", "would like to haves" and "nice to haves". It's best to do this before looking at the specification of any product as it's too
easy to get sidetracked into features that look nice but don't really match your needs. Armed with this list, you can start to look at the
variety of products available.
With regards to Altium Designer, we have a wealth of information available for you. This in itself can be a little daunting, but with a little
effort on your part, you can gain quick access to the key details very rapidly...
- Compile your list of needs. Get a feeling for the positioning and capabilities of the software by viewing the five minute
Introduction to Altium Designer.
- Use our Product Information Pages to check your needs against the
main capabilities of the software - the demo movies will really help here.
- Contact our sales team to verify any outstanding needs, or to ask specific questions.
- Arrange a Webinar, this will give you an opportunity to see the software
'in action' and to ask for demonstration of your specific needs
- Request an evaluation pack and prove the capabilities for yourself.
(Be aware that it is unlikely that you will have sufficient basis for performing a self-evaluation before completing steps 1-4 above)
