Altium Designer natively supports Protel 99SE format libraries, and continues to allow you to work with separate schematic and PCB libraries. However, by compiling your source libraries into an integrated library you create portability and security. Components cannot be edited in an integrated library, giving you control over who can modify your company’s valuable library resources.
An integrated library stores the various models of a component, such as the schematic symbol, the PCB footprint, the SPICE model, the IBIS model and the 3D model in a single package, ensuring library portability. By compiling source libraries into an integrated library, you create portability and security.
