Both the VRML and IGES formats enjoy extensive support in the 3D mechanical CAD domain. Altium Designer includes a powerful PCB 3D visualization viewer, which not only presents an excellent on-screen rendition of the assembled board for the board designer, but also supports exporting the assembly as an IGES file. The 3D visualization engine can construct 3D components from the PCB footprint, or for more accurate rendering you can import VRML or IGES component models.
