Intermediate Data Format (IDF) is an emerging standard for electromechanical data interchange. IDF provides a neutral representation designed specifically for exchanging critical printed circuit assembly data among mechanical design, PCB layout, and physical design analysis systems. Altium Designer includes bi-directional support for reading and writing in IDF, making it easy to transfer in board shape definitions, and transfer out the assembled PCB.
